This week, the London 2012 Organising Committee (LOCOG) is holding a public consultation to seek the views of Weymouth and Portland residents in advance of submitting planning applications to the Borough Council later this year.
This will cover temporary facilities such as portacabins, marquees, tents and cabling, and also athlete's accommodation.

Littlemoor ward to receive £1m of Big Lottery fundingWeymouth's Littlemoor ward is set to receive at least £1 million to fund community projects and give people in the area a helping hand as part of the Big Lottery Fund's the Big Local Trust programme.
The programme aims to help people in disadvantaged communities to meet their needs and make their communities better places to live in, now and in the future.
There will now be a period of careful consideration to determine how best to spend the money, which will be awarded in stages over the next ten years.
Staff from West Dorset District Council and Weymouth and Portland Borough Council will soon find themselves working together in the biggest shake up in local government in the area for 35 years. The move will improve services and save around 8.5 million over the next five years.
There will be a single officer structure for both councils, including one chief executive and one management team. The joint workforce will deliver services to 162,000 residents, over 6,100 businesses and the millions of visitors to the areas governed by the two councils.
The council recently held a public exhibition to inform the community about a new artist–designed lighting scheme for Weymouth Esplanade. There was an extremely positive reaction from residents who came to see the designs, which will create veils of light across the sea, and will complement existing features of the esplanade.
The innovative scheme has been proposed as part of the overall Weymouth Seafront Regeneration Programme. The bulbs used in the existing fairy lights are no longer obtainable, which means that they are now too outdated to maintain. Funding is being provided by the Regional Development Agency and the Arts Council for England.
Weymouth and Portland 2012 survey - online now!A sample of selected households across the Borough have been receiving questionnaires through their doors. If you haven't received one and would like to take part, you can do so online. Click here to take the survey if your household has not received a postal survey.
The survey has been created independently by Bournemouth University, and will help us to determine how residents feel about being an Olympic host Borough. If you receive one of the postal surveys, please take five minutes to complete and return in the freepost envelope provided. The results will help shape decisions about your local area, and help us find out how to deliver information about the Games.
To each of our consultations we attach an equality monitoring form. To understand why we collect this information – click here
