Sun Safety

We all enjoy a spot of sun and when it's out we expose ourselves to it at every possible convenience. Here in Weymouth and Portland we generally have excellent sunshine records compared to elsewhere in the UK. With the sun comes the risk over over exposure, burning and worse so take care when visiting our resort and slap on that sun screen. Enjoy the sun, we're British and sunny days need to be taken full advantage of but do it safely!

Solar Radiation

What we call current solar radiation is technically known as Global Solar Radiation, a measure of the intensity of the sun's radiation reaching a horizontal surface. This irradiance includes both the direct component from the sun and the reflected component from the rest of the sky. The solar radiation reading gives a measure of the amount of solar radiation hitting the solar radiation sensor at any given time, expressed in Watts /sq. meter (W/m2).
