Our long term aims reflect the aspirations of the people of Weymouth and Portland for it to be a vibrant and exciting place to live and work.
We want Weymouth and Portland to develop as a successful business location and as a centre for marine excellence in commerce and leisure. We want local people and businesses to benefit from year round activity and jobs.
We want Weymouth and Portland to be a place where people, including the most vulnerable have improved access to decent and affordable housing.
In working to meet these aspirations we need to ensure that the environment is respected and safeguarded now and for the future.
We aim to maintain a Council that is fit for purpose in serving local people and their needs, is efficient in the way it is run, focuses on the needs of people in how it delivers services and effectively adapts to change on an ongoing basis.
The 2008 – 2013 Corporate Plan has recently had an update for 2010 – 2011. The new update has been written with issues currently affecting the council, residents and local businesses in mind as well as ensuring better inclusion of equalities targets and information. In addition, it provides a 'smarter', clearer approach to exactly what the council is trying to achieve in 2010–11. More detail is contained in the first pages of the document.
Please note that the update is not designed to replace the Corporate Plan 2008 – 2013, but to supplement it.
