A: If you think you may be entitled to a badge you should apply:
In England and Wales: To the Social Services Department of your County, Unitary, Metropolitan District or London Borough Council.

Q: A vehicle is parked blocking my driveway, how can I get it moved?
A: If the vehicle is preventing you from leaving your driveway then this is obstruction and must be dealt with by the police. If the vehicle is preventing you from parking on your driveway neither the police nor the Council will be able to assist you.
Q: I have received a Penalty Charge - how do I pay it?
A: To Pay- If you want to pay a Penalty Charge then you can do so by 24 hour telephone payment hotline. Debit/credit card payment may be made 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, simply call 0845 230 4286-please have your card with you when you phone and the Penalty Charge number.
Alternatively payment can be made via the internet using a debit/credit card. Simply click on Pay a Parking Fine'.
By post by crossed cheque or postal order payable to WPBC - please write the Penalty Charge Notice number and vehicle registration number on the reverse of the cheque/postal order and send to Weymouth and Portland Borough Council, PO Box 5297, Weymouth, Dorset DT4 8ZB (do not send cash through the post).
In person by cash at the Council Offices on North Quay.
Q: I have received a Penalty Charge - can I challenge it?
A: Should you wish to challenge a Penalty Charge Notice then this must be made in writing and sent to PO Box 5283 Weymouth DT4 8XN. Alternatively a challenge can be made by email and sent to parkingadmin@weymouth.gov.uk. Please ensure that you quote the Penalty Charge Notice number and give your name and address. No telephone challenges can be accepted.

Q: If the response is after 14 days and I still have to pay, does that mean that I will still have to pay the full amount of the Penalty Charge?
A: No, as long as you have appealed within 14 days of receiving the Penalty Charge then, regardless of when it is sent to you, our reply letter will usually offer you a further period of 14 days during which you need only pay the discounted amount of the Penalty Charge.
Q: How do I apply for a residents Permit ?
A: There are various permit zones within the Borough. The application forms you require will depend on where you live. These can be sent to you (Tel: 01305 838236)for you to complete and return to the Parking Administration department with
1) Copy of your Council Tax Bill,
2) Copy of your Vehicle Registration Document,
3) Proof of Residency and
4) Copy of your Driving Licence showing your Weymouth/Portland address.
Q: Who can apply for a Residents Parking Permit ?
A: You can apply for a Residents Parking Permit if
a) Your main home address is within the boundary of the Parking Zone (maps are available to confirm this),
b) you have continuous residence at the property,
c) you own, keep and use a vehicle of the prescribed type and class and
d) you hold a current full drivers licence and must be on the Electoral Roll.
Q: How many permits am I entitled to ?
A: Each resident may apply for one Residents Parking Permit per vehicle owned by residents at that address (with the exception of the Hope Square scheme under which permits are restricted to one per address).
Residents Parking Permits shall be decreased in number at the rate of one per off street parking place or garage, within the curtilage of the address.
Q: What do I do with the permit ?
A: The permit should de displayed in the holder provided on the inside of the windscreen of your vehicle while parked in a resident permit holders parking place during the hours of operation. When parking, you should ensure that your vehicle is fully within the markings of the parking bay.
Q: Am I able to apply for a Residents Parking Permit if I own a Self Catering Holiday Flat / Apartment ?
A: Depending on the area of the town and the number of letting bedrooms you may be able to apply for a permit.
Q: Am I able to apply for a Residents Parking Permit if I own a 2nd home ?
A: Yes, you are eligible for one visitors scratch card per property per period. To qualify you should provide a copy of the current Council Tax Bill showing that 90% Council Tax is being paid.
Q: I share a car. Can I get a shared Permit ?
A: Sorry, we are unable to issue permits for pool cars or those with shared use.
Q: How much does a Permit cost ?
A: Resident, Guest House, Hotel, Self Catering Holiday Flats and Apartments - 4 months £20.00, 12 months £60.00. Tradesman - one week £5.40
Q: Do I need a permit for a motorcycle ?
A: Yes and the charges are half of the normal fees.
Q: How do I renew my Permit ?
A: The renewal of a Permit is the responsibility of the resident although we do send out renewal forms each year.
To ensure that you receive your permit in good time, your application should be posted in the pre-paid envelope at least 3-4 weeks prior to the renewal date.
No reminder will be sent to holders of a 4 month permit.
When renewing all permits you will need to enclose your signed renewal form, payment and photocopies of the following: proof of residence, your drivers licence and proof of vehicle custody.
Q: What do I do if I change my vehicle ?
A: You must return your existing permit to the Council Offices either in person or by post.
Your new permit will be issued to expire on the same day as the surrendered one. You will need to apply personally for the change of vehicle and provide the official sales invoice or insurance document showing your Weymouth address.
We must see the amended vehicle registration document as soon as possible to update our records. You will need to make arrangements to park legally while your permit is being changed.
Q: What If I sell my vehicle ?
A: Your permit must be returned to the Parking Administration Department and you will receive a refund for each full month unused.
Q: What if I change my address ?
A: If you change your address within the same parking zone you should notify the Parking Administration Department so records can be amended. You will need to provide
proof of your residence at your new address.
Your driving licence and vehicle registration document will also need to be changed.
If you move from one zone to another zone within Weymouth, we will change your existing permit to show the new zone, but you will need to provide the documents as soon as you obtain them.
You must surrender your existing permit and provide your proof of residence for the new address.
Q: I am a resident. What do I need to get a visitor scratchcard permit?
A: You need to produce a copy of your latest council tax bill or tenancy agreement and you need to be registered on the electoral roll.
Q: How many scratchcards may I have?
A: Each residential property is entitled to one scratchcard per period. Scratchcards that are lost cannot be replaced.
Q: What are the periods ?
A: Dec to March, April to July, August to November - each allowing 27 days parking
Q: How much does a Visitors scratchcard cost ?
A: £7.00 per period
