Welcome all to 2008, the festive season a warm memory and the door to a New Year opened with a cheer. The South Coast gem of Weymouth and Portland once again offers a programme of activities and events truly bursting with ideas, inspiration, commitment and extravaganza.
Over 200 events are packed into the year, ranging from a maritime celebration and preparations for the 2012 Olympic Games with the “Spirit of the Sea” in July.
The Resorts big festival favourites are back, Kite crazy in May, a Salute to our Veterans in June, and magnificent World of Model Boats in July. Sport will focus strongly throughout the year with hockey, tag rugby, soccer, beach volleyball, beach handball, beach motocross and plans to host the Resorts first major Beach Cricket Festival.
Weymouth and Portland’s open spaces and parks will be a buzz throughout 2008, with car rallies, nature events, fete’s and fayres, picnics and Halloween to be enjoyed and shared by every age.
